Code of Conduct
The goal of the Port Charlotte Writers Group is to help and support our members as authors. Group members and non-members using this website are expected to abide by the following code of conduct.
Harassment, Discrimination, and Trolling
The Port Charlotte Writers Group is committed to providing an environment free from harassment, intimidation and coercion based on race, gender, religion, national origin, immigrant status, veteran status, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, disability, or any other classification protected by applicable law.
Do not post hostile, rude or obscene messages. Do not try to communicate with someone who has asked you to stop. Don't post materials that encourage violence or hatred on the basis of race, ethnic origin, religion, disability, gender, age, veteran status, or sexual orientation. We have the right to remove hateful or inappropriate content and block members who do not abide by our policies.
Feedback
You do not have to accept the feedback you receive but do listen to what others have to say.
Critique the writing, not the person. Make positive suggestions that would help the writer improve the work. If something doesn’t work for you, explain why.
Sharing
The work shared with the group stays within the group. Do not copy, discuss, or distribute it to anyone outside the group unless you have that author’s permission.
Adult Content
Adult content is acceptable, but not pornography. Four letter words are acceptable. The group’s leaders and organizers will be the final arbiters of what is or is not acceptable.
Advertising
No advertising. Do not post links to products or services you’re trying to sell.
Streaming
No illegal streaming. Streaming refers to any media content, live or recorded, delivered to computers and mobile devices via the internet and played back in real time. Podcasts, webcasts, movies, TV shows, and music videos are common forms of streaming content. When streaming involves unauthorized use or pirated material that does not respect the author’s copyright, it is illegal.
